The rule triggers above 80°F outdoors (lower for workers in non-breathing PPE) and requires documented shaded rest areas, sufficient cool water (at least one quart per worker per hour), mandatory acclimatization schedules for new and returning workers, and supervisor heat-stress recognition training.
